Although I've been training with Game 7 for only a month, the results of my conditioning are already significant enough to write this testimonial. I'm a 48-year-old, stay-at-home mother of three (a ten-year-old son and two teenage daughters). Although I enjoy working out and had once been a runner, for the past few years it seems I've spent the majority of my time running kids from one event to another while sitting in my minivan. The more involved my children became with school, sports, and extracurricular activities, the busier I became. By the end of the day there was not time or I was just too tired to exercise. I had gained more than ten pounds over the past five years and was feeling rather hopeless as I watched my muscles atrophy and stiffen.

While enrolling two of my children in Game 7, it was suggested that I join too. The suggestion at first seemed laughable, but as I thought about it, it began to make sense. Instead of sitting on the bench while the kids were practicing softball and baseball at Extra Innings, I could get a workout. So, I too began my training with James Baker, who I knew had been terrific working with my kids. He assessed my conditioning (I started at a Game 2) and asked me to determine my goals. Each workout has been customized to match my fitness level and to help me attain my goals of improving core strength, and flexibility. With each workout, I've been challenged beyond the point that I'd push myself if I were working alone. Yet, the workouts have also been modified to accommodate old injuries and some physical limitations.
James is a terrific trainer. As an athlete himself, he appreciated and understands the importance of fitness and conditioning. He's also very knowledgeable about the mechanics of the human body and nutrition. He's attentive and organized and his encouragement has been a great motivator to me as well as to my children. He's given me helpful advice on how to supplement my twice-weekly training sessions with aerobic exercise and stretching at home.

Over this past month, I've lost eight pounds and my muscles feel strong again. When I started, I could not touch my toes, but now I am now able to rest the palms of my hands flat on the floor. I'm lighter, stronger, and more flexible; more important, I feel younger and more energetic.

In sum, I've been very impresses with the entire Game 7 organization, and I consider myself very lucky to have begun their program. I highly recommend it, not just to young athletes, but to all those too-busy parents who want to hold onto their physical health and perhaps even turn back the clock.

When I joined Game 7 my goal was to be generally healthier and perhaps help settle down my asthma. I hadn't exercised regularly in over 25 years, and wasn't interested in a 'gym' experience. Since my office is in the same building, I thought I'd be motivated by shame not to skip a session. It wasn't that I was skeptical of what I could achieve at Game 7, just cynical about my ability to stay with it.

That was almost a year ago. Today I'm over 50 pounds lighter, two shirt sizes, and three pants sizes smaller. My cholesterol has dropped from 179 to 132; my blood pressure is a solid 120/80 (down from a high of 158/100), and I haven't needed a rescue inhaler since I started. Almost as amazing, I'm working out three or four times a week.

I am fitter and have more flexibility that I have since I was 20. My core strength is improved, as is my stamina. What had been a daily ache in my back is now gone, and my posture is greatly improved. I have more energy, and feel better than I have in years, which have spilled over to changes in my daily routines and eating habits.

The program at Game 7 covers all the basics; core, strength, stamina, flexibility and balance. The trainers are all knowledgeable and patient, especially John Maryanski. Each workout is a new mix of exercises designed to keep me from being bored with the workout, and the trainers keep things on track but light. With John's help I've been able to create and reach new goals, and see the results of the hard work.

Thanks to John, James, Andy, Mike, Kevin and the other physical therapists (whom I've never actually worked with) who give me positive feedback and keep me motivated to continue working on good health.

I was attending McGovern Physical Therapy in Revere and I was informed there by a McGovern employee about an up and coming sports training facility called Game 7 that hadn't actually opened yet, but by the description alone it excited me enough to keep an eye out for the grand opening, and when it did, I took advantage of signing up. I came to Game 7 to help me become a better athlete in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), and for my profession as a firefighter. Game 7 has drastically increased my flexibility, endurance, real world strength and has increased my capabilities to get the job done at a fire.

I kept coming back to Game 7 because of:

1) The challenge to reach a Game 7. To be able to reach an elite group would be an honor to be very proud of.

And:

2) The staff and the group of others that come here to challenge themselves. It is no easy feat to be a Game 7 here, and if were easy, then I wouldn't be here. What's life without challenges, especially ones that make you feel and look good!

My results, I believe, have increased in all areas. The most important area to me, as I stated before, is the real world strength. What I mean by that is: in most or all construction careers, or especially in the firefighter world, you are almost never able to operate, lift, twist and turn in a perfect stable posture or manner. Real life work almost always forces you to work, operate, and lift using multiple body parts, if not the entire body, with a pushing, pulling motion while using stability muscles. Game 7 is exactly all this and then some. You're training like a pro athlete, like the elite athletes of any sport, and that's not a bad category to be in!
